A new Improvement District can have a significant impact on quality of life issues in Northside, Williamsburg, from public space to public safety.

What is an Improvement
District?

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a nonprofit organization that provides specialized services within a clearly defined geographic area, tailored specifically to the needs identified by local stakeholders. These services are funded through assessments on properties within the district's boundaries.

In Northside Williamsburg, an Improvement District could supplement essential services, such as sanitation and litter removal, parks and open space maintenance, horticultural enhancements, public safety, and business assistance.

A BID is formed through a rigorous planning and ballot process that requires deep engagement and positive support from the majority of property owners within the district - including YOU!

Our Mission

A Northside Improvement District Steering Committee formed in 2023 to lead the BID formation process, which is facilitated by the North Brooklyn Parks Alliance, in partnership with New York City Council Members, Lincoln Restler and Jennifer Gutiérrez.

The Committee’s mission is to create an organization that will promote improved quality of life in the neighborhood, focused on:

  • Creating a neighborhood that is cleaner, safer and more inviting to all

  • Supporting the small businesses that are the backbone of our local economy

  • Improving the quality of public spaces
